Nathan was raised in New Port Richey, Florida. The sole child of Oscar and Rose Explosion. Nathan has an overbearing mother and stern father. In A short interview, he expresses an irritation at his resemblance to his mother. His father claims that he was happy until Nathan was born. Reason being that he had to spend all his beer money on little kids cloths. Explosion didn't speak until the age of five and was a poor student, only showing skill in football and frog dissection, but these early experiences made him an expert on all things brutal and metal. He eventually dropped without earning his diploma. Nathan is portrayed as a tall figure, with long black hair and green eyes, he always speaks in a deep, gravelly voice, even when not singing.
